North German Impressions: Eidersperrwerk

Blogging from A – Z

I will not make many words today but  show you a place at the North Sea coast today: the floodgates at the mouth of the river Eider, the “Eidersperrwerk”.

It’s a popular  meeting place, at the small cafeteria you will find nice coffee and a bite to eat, you can look inland or out to the North Sea and have a walk on the Eidersperrwerk admiring this piece of engineering. We stopped there last Sunday when we were coming back from a visit at my brother’s house.  We had low water and no wind, therefore the place might look a bit tame. In winter that ‘s a different matter. Then the wind is blowing hard up there and the sea is crashing against the gate. That’s when I like the place best.
